Bethel's Beginnings

Bethel Christian Assembly began in 2004 as simply a small group of Christians meeting in a home in Chilworth, who were seeking to live out the reality of the Christian faith in their everyday lives. From there, the Lord gave clear leading and direction that He was making this group into a body; that is a church with the appropriate leadership. During this time, the Lord also drew our attention to Genesis 28:10-22 when we sought Him for a name and it is from that passage of Scripture that the name Bethel was drawn.

The leadership team at Bethel is made up largely of lay ministers and includes three elders and a deacon, as well as others who act in supporting roles. The elders are Simon Wyatt, Mike Jenkins and Max Knight.

Open worship is practised at Bethel with opportunity afforded for the operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Our music is drawn from both traditional hymns and modern worship songs.
