Welcome to:
Bethel Christian Assembly
Bethel Christian Assembly is a Christian church based in Chilworth, near Guildford, Surrey. The congregation is made up of all ages and different nationalities. Bethel was started in January 2004. Many of the meetings are held in Chilworth.
Why Bethel?‘Bethel’ means ‘House of God’ and represents God meeting with His people. Bethel is the place where God met with Jacob in Genesis ch. 28 v 10-22. God revealed to Jacob His person and purposes, and God’s promises included His presence, protection and provision. We believe the God of Jacob, who is also the God of Israel today, has not changed, and that He wants to meet with us, give us a vision and work out His plans for us. Wherever He does this, that place can truly be called the House of God. Why Christian?Today we live in a post‑Christian/secular society and the word ‘church’ conjures up many different notions in peoples’ minds. We at Bethel believe that the word ‘Christian’ means those who follow and imitate the person of Jesus Christ and reflect His life to a dying world. We, as individuals and as a church, seek to build our lives on the full counsel of God, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. We hold fast to the truths of the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, and of His return. |
Why Assembly? The word ‘church’ means ‘an assembly’ or ‘called out ones’. The Assembly of God therefore consists of those who have been called out by God to serve Him in all things and to reach out to the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We assemble together towards God and each other. Our meetings include studying and listening to God’s Word, worship, the breaking of bread and fellowship. Bethel is also a house of prayer, where we hold each other in prayer and practical support. Our prayer meetings are not only focused on national issues but also global ones. We seek to be led and directed by God through His Word and through His Holy Spirit, who is free to operate through His gifts that He has bestowed on the church. |
